Log Cabin Style Even Without the Cabin

Visiting a log cabin is one of the greatest places to visit. Most people fall in love with this style once they have seen it. It’s a way that makes the home seem very inviting and comfortable. This type of design is very easy and cheap to do also; you will be able to find a lot of the items in a flea market or other type of yard sales around your location.

When you go to redecorate a home or even just a room you need to preplan the ideas of what you want it to look like. The log cabin style is one that comes across as being a lived in location, and looks like you may not need to plan much, but in reality you will still need to make some plans. One of the important focal points or ideas with the log cabin decor is to bring in the outdoors to your inside living area. Colors you use should stick in the earthy colors, maybe browns, brick red, green and black.

To plan out your color ahead of time, simply visit a store where you can pick up some of the sample cards free. Take those homes and see what ideas will look best in your new log cabin look. This is a great way where you can match up your furniture with the color you might want to paint the walls in.

When picking the furniture for this space earthy and woodsy are the keywords to this style. Choose furniture that you would picture in a cabin in the woods or mountains, such as items made with rough logs and twigs. Wood tables with the bark still present are another way to get this earthy look. The accessories for this style can be found in flea markets and yard sales across the country, it is important to look for things such as old snowshoes, fishing creels, old axes, and things made out of antlers.

On the windows you can use simple blinds, or curtains, don’t get anything that is too fancy. These must bring in a homey feeling to your house, shutters may even work well. You want to let in as much of the sun as you can, this will brighten up your home nicely.

The wall art and lighting should both have very earthy and woodsy tones. Use photos of woods or mountains in twig or rough wooden frames. Use lighting that feature deer antlers in the lamps and chandeliers, since deer shed their antlers it is possible to find many items with this theme especially in locations with high deer populations.

One of the most important places to focus when it comes to this type of style is the floors. While wood floors are almost a requirement, there are many products on the market that give you the hardwood look without the hardwood price.

Adding some extra warmth into the look with an area rug is a perfect idea. Make sure you get the right type of area rug to go with the style and look you are aiming at. Natural earthy colors are the best way to go but sometimes you can get organic or even Oriental rugs that will look nice in this setting.

The log cabin style is one of the most comfortable ways to decorate your home. Just remember that it’s all about bringing in the outdoors inside and preplanning it ahead of time.
